Save Social Media From Billionaire Capture: freeourfeeds.com?
"But it will take independent funding and governance to turn Bluesky’s underlying tech—the AT Protocol—into something more powerful than a single app."
I see the executive director and president of Mozilla Foundation as their technical advisors, no surprise. But it surprises me to have the executive director of the Social Web Foundation (@swf) there.
Any thoughts, @evan ?
It also surprised me to see Jimmy Wales, Founder of Wikipedia, involved.
@everton137 @swf we've got a blog post about it here:

@everton137 @swf tl;dr is that SWF focuses on the Fediverse, but we want to support this effort to make the AT Proto network more open and participative. And we'd probably help directly or indirectly if they try to make the AT Proto network better connected to the Social Web.
@everton137 @swf you never replied. Did I answer your question?
@evan @swf and look, I follow your efforts of a protocol for decentralized social media since 2010. I advocated to have identi.ca in the City Council of São Paulo, in 2011, with their own servers. We were never so close to more official institutions to use a common protocol to communicate with each other and get rid of walled gardens.
But my gut feeling doesn't like this campaign to get more money for Bluesky. I might and hope to be wrong, so I'm just replying here without sharing.
@everton137 @swf lol. Yeah, if you're not involved in Bluesky already, you don't need to look at it. It's for opening up their network.
