@evan it's often repeated "Vimy Ridge, WWI" as a major factor behind it. I wonder what the actual major factors were. Intended to defuse labour/communism/socialism I think. Worked OK. The wealthy of the UK, the globes elites at the time, broke up the crown's empire to save their own skins.
No longer could the crown's empire serve as a focal target for socialism.
