Updating the laptop to macOS 15.3
Remember System 7? :)
I love that the "bong" still exists and ties us back to that time.
That and control-command-3 for screenshots.
png format instead of pic.
ughh... Apple Intelligence is here.
I also remember text to speech being super cool back in the MacOS 8 days.
I am not convinced we've really advanced that far contrary to what some want to say.
And we have definitely pitched the whole "Apple is about the Creative People" out the window in favour of "Image Creation Tools -- based on the unpaid work of millions -- are here.”
OH WHAT
My Apple Mac AI + @ivory (?) just summarized my post criticizing Apple’s AI.
I CRITICIZE THIS UNAPPROVED SUMMATION OF MY CRITICISM
omg seriously.. they've inserted prompts for AI EVERYWHERE.
Seriously... go AWAY

You can turn Apple Intelligence off on macOS in the new “Apple Intelligence & Siri” area of System Settings.
See my previous boost on creating a “mismatch" Siri voice that effectively disables AI across all your connected Apple iCloud devices.

“ChatGPT Extension”
OH HELLS NO. I'm not going to be a part of that. I draw the line there immediately.
Edit: It appears that this is not on by default. I did not set it up and I turned off the "suggestions”.

I would also like to say to Apple. You've had Siri for how many years? You've added many variations to your English speakers. But no Canadian variations.
Perhaps it's just the moment we're in, but I'd like to see a Canadian Western, Canadian Eastern, Canadian Maritime, and Newfoundland Option for Siri.
Thank you very much.

This is wild. In the updated Mac User Guide when you click on "learn more" in the Apple Intelligence area of the Settings it says:
"Turn Apple Intelligence on: With macOS 15.3 or later, Apple Intelligence is on by default and integrated across features in your apps. "
then a few lines later…
"Note: Apple Intelligence is currently in beta. Apple Intelligence uses generative models, and outputs may be inaccurate, unexpected, or offensive. Check important information for accuracy."
To summarize.
Apple Legal signed off on “inaccurate, unexpected, or offensive” content being pushed to users *by default*...
what could go wrong…
@chris somebody got promoted for this
