With the recent uptick in tech activity on Bluesky, I've decided that I will start posting there in addition to my current locations. I've also put together my general thoughts on the state of social media, and how I'm using it, now that it's two years since The Muskover.
@mfowler You know you can follow people and be followed through the Bluesky Bridgy Fed bridge, right?
@evan Found your thread with @mfowler while looking for your wisdom on Bridgy vs Bridgy Fed. I'm going to use my wordpress site as my hub and even though I grasp the difference between the two forms of bridgy I can't figure out which one will feel more organic to the people I interact with on Bsky and Masto.
@awsamuel @mfowler I haven't tried using the Bridge from WordPress. You have to follow a particular account on the bridge to signal your willingness to be followed there. I think you need to install some extra plugins to make it possible to follow someone remotely. @pfefferle @snarfed.org am I way off here?
@evan @mfowler @pfefferle @snarfed.org Yep I installed a half-dozen plugins but there was a lot more troubleshooting ahead and I couldn't see a route to Threads support anyhow. Love the indieweb vibe but I'm super vulnerable to tech distractions so a solution that just works is highly preferable to a better solution that will tempt me into tech nerdery.
