@timbray @jwz Disappointed to report that I agree with JWZ's gripes about Silo storytelling. Love the set, enjoyed the books, but the murder investigation machinations are muddled. If I'd not read the books, I suspect I'd be much more at sea.

@stshank @timbray @jwz I disagree. I loved the books' world but found their characters and dialogue risible. Show is much better, keeps the good things from books, is dramatised by pro writers. Mrs L hadn't read books, found the show gripping and unconfusing.

@brucelawson @stshank @jwz I'm with Bruce, imperfect but enjoyed it. Especially the we-gotta-fix-the-generator episode, captured the feel of an engineering crisis.

@stshank @timbray I wasn't *confused* by any of it, I was just constantly oscillating between "that's impossible, that can't possibly work, that's not how any of this works" and "how am I expected to believe that any of these incurious motherfuckers survived a day down there".

I assume the answer's going to be "mind control drugs", I mean why not, we're already expected to believe that their NTSC network of square CRTs can produce perfect holograms.

@timbray
Very useful, especially since discovering anything on streaming services without knowing it is there is basically impossible.
@jwz

@timbray @jwz That was a fun read. The Sanctuary summary was hilarious.

@timbray @jwz I want to read his take on “Suits.” Netflix pushed it at me and, well, I have thoughts.

@alexr @timbray I have a moderately strict rule about never watching shows about lawyers, doctors or cops.

@jwz @timbray Pretty sure the pitch was “Mad Men with lawyers.” In S02, they switched entirely to threatening each other, backstabbing, and every other toxic workplace thing you can think of.

@timbray @jwz I found Extrapolations extremely hit and miss and wish it had been better, but yes, the whale episode is heartbreaking and great
