My hot take for the day: Mastodon should implement support for atproto PDSes for every user account.
@blaine I don't think any Open Source project should implement a protocol that has no patent or trademark licenses, proposed by a VC-backed startup. There is a good bridge, and that localizes the potential harm to one entity (sorry, Ryan). I don't think spreading that risk around is a great idea.
@evan fair enough; possible counterpoint is that more implementations make legal defense harder in the [unlikely] bad path. Also arguable that the Oracle decision makes protocols largely fair game to implement without risk of attack.
