I've long known that classic Chinese red laquerware was coloured with cinnabar (mercury!).

But that Chinese yellow laquerware was colour3d with Orpiment (arsenic!). 😱

These pigments were also used by painters through the 19th century.

@deborahh Someone left acrylic paints out on the free table at work and they were cad yellow and oranges! I had to rotate them to find the hazard labeling
